Washington St Pilot Project - Survey
The Newtonville Area Council recently conducted a public survey to gather community feedback on the roadway changes in West Newton and Newtonville. We have shared the findings with the Mayor and City Council to ensure local voices are represented as we engage with city officials regarding traffic and transportation safety in Newtonville.
The report of the survey results is posted on our website. It highlights a diverse range of opinions regarding the pilot's goals, usage, and local impact. We look forward to seeing how these community perspectives line up alongside upcoming city traffic studies and data collection.
The Washington street project (city website) is described in the Newton Walk, Roll, and Bike Network Plan as part of a wider strategy that aligns with the Newton 2040: A Transportation Strategy for Newton from 2017.
The Washington Street Pilot Website notes the following changes:
Shared use bike path construction
Cross walk changes
Street parking changes
Changes to bus access
Changes to street layout to reduce congestion
